General District Information
Overview
The Newburgh Enlarged City School district is located at "The Crossroads of the Northeast," an area on the west bank of the Hudson River 60 miles north of New York City and 80 miles south of Albany.
Our district central office and the Board of Education are located at 124 Grand Street, Newburgh, NY 12550.
The school district serves students from four neighboring municipalities: the City of Newburgh, the Towns of Newburgh, New Windsor, and small portions of Cornwall and Wallkill. Six elementary schools (including a Pre-K center in one building), one K-8 school, one middle school, and the high school are in the City of Newburgh. The remaining schools are spread throughout the other municipalities.
Student Demographics
In the 2019-2020 school year, the district had a total enrollment of 11,557 students. Ethnic breakdown of our students is as follows (again for the '19-'20 school year):
- 22% Black or African American
- 55% Hispanic or Latino
- 4% Asian or Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander
- 17% White
- 4% Multiracial
14% of students were English Language Learners.

The district currently consists of seven K-5 elementary schools, two K-8 schools, two middle schools (grades 6-8), and one high school (grades 9-12 over 3 campuses)
