Meadow Hill GEMS School Welcomes New 6th Grade Scholars
All middle schools hosted a “411 of Middle School” event for incoming 6th grade scholars during the week leading up to the first day of school. Each building held unique activities, but all middle schools had the goal of welcoming new students, acclimating students to aspects of the school day that may be different than they’re used to (following a schedule, changing classes, opening a locker), and setting all of our middle school scholars up for success.
At Meadow Hill GEMS School, scholars demonstrated school spirit and unity by making tie-dyed shirts. Although Meadow Hill GEMS School is a K-8 building and many scholars will be staying at the same school, there will be some new changes that come with being a middle school student. Middle School scholars are in a separate section of the building, so new 6th grade students were given time to explore the areas that are new to them.
To make the learning experience a fun and impactful one, Meadow Hill Scholars went through their schedule with a stop watch. Scholars were physical shown the amount of time they have when switching classes to ease any concerns about being late for class. Students learned that they have ample time to get from one class to the next given the time they have.
