Horizons on the Hudson Fifth Graders Present Exhibition
Horizons on the Hudson International Baccalaureate World School fifth grade students hosted their annual Exhibition last week, presenting projects based on the theme How We Express Ourselves. The students worked diligently with mentors to finalize their inquiry projects based on a variety of student interest topics. Students were very excited about the opportunity to present their research-based projects to their school and local community.
The Exhibition is a key component of the school’s IB focus and is a rite of passage from the IB PYP Program of Inquiry. The students have worked in small groups to lead a unit of inquiry, and have demonstrated independence and responsibility for their own learning. In addition to researching and designing a presentation, each group was also responsible for promoting some type of action. Among the issues the students explored were bullying, equity, drug use and responsibilities surrounding talent and celebrity.
