Key Club Collaborates with St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital for Third Annual “Baby Shower”
The St. Luke’s Cornwall Health System Foundation, the Kiwanis of Newburgh, the Newburgh Free Academy Key Club and the Newburgh Elks #247 recently hosted the Third Annual Baby Shower at the St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital Newburgh (SLCH) campus.
For the last three years the Newburgh Free Academy Key Club has participated by helping the Kiwanis Club of Newburgh put on a baby shower for the mothers in need at St. Luke's Hospital.
Students collect blankets, clothes, diapers, wipes and other baby items to bring the items to St. Luke’s to be distributed by the nurses to the mothers at their discretion.
This year’s event included an overwhelming amount of donations including crocheted baby blankets from the Vails Gate United Methodist Church, hand knit items from Knit-tastics of both Gardnertown and Town of Newburgh, as well as many other donations including car seats, clothing, diapers, wipes and toys from First Presbyterian Church of Montgomery, Adams Fair Acre Farms, Pet Smart, and many community members. All items donated during the event will be used to support the infants and families born at the SLCH Birthing Center, including the Elaine Kaplan Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Chairman of Key Club, Newburgh Free Academy are: Chairman- Christina Jacobsen, Joanna Jacobsen, Rebecca Ferguson. Advisors for Key Club are: Ms. Sandy Baines and Ms. Michelle Bender.
