District Wide 1st Annual Math Meets Closing Ceremony
On Thursday, April 19th scholars, parents, NECSD educators, members of the NECSD central office and BOE members joined over ninety Grade 5 scholars from all nine elementary schools to participate in the 1st annual Math Meets closing ceremony with an Escape Room theme. Using 2017-18 Grade 5 data, scholars engaged in collaborative mathematics challenges to encourage and support the importance of teamwork, and persevering in solving mathematics problems. Along with "unlocking" the BOE Auditorium with mathematics, the winners of this year's mathematics meets were announced:
1st place: The Math Maniacs (295 points)
2nd place: Geometric Giants (294 points)
3rd place: Geodashers (287 points)
We congratulate all of our scholars on their work this year and look forward to their love for mathematics growing as they transition to Middle School.
Thank you to all community members and NECSD employees for supporting this event.
Mathematics is a universal AND necessary language! #spreadingthejoyofmath
