Merari Rodriguez, Senior at NFA North, Signed National Letter of Intent for Soccer
Merari Rodriguez, senior at NFA North, signed her national letter of intent for soccer at St. Thomas Aquinas last week. Merari was joined by her parents and younger sister, who is also a soccer player for Newburgh. Merari was also joined by her soccer coach, Mr. Dave Doulin, her teacher, Mrs. Melissa Doulin, her principal, Mr. Matteo Doddo, and Athletic Director, Mr. Ron Montalto.
“I love the campus. I love that it’s a small school and I feel like I learn better in a smaller environment. I’m planning on studying Exercise Science and Physical Therapy after that.” Merari received a scholarship that requires her to pay less than $1,000 per school year. 70% scholarship is academic
“Soccer has meant a lot to me. Growing up, it felt like it was the only thing I had. I had a hard childhood and soccer filled that one spot that was missing. My coaches have helped a lot. I was okay when I started and now I’m kind of good. My family has always been there for me, so that has made it easy to work as hard as I have.” Merari Rodriguez, senior at NFA North
Merari plays Center Back, a defensive position.
