South Middle School Hosted a Student vs. Staff Basketball
South Middle School hosted a Student vs. Staff Basketball game before break. Both teams definitely game to play! Students were required to be in good standing to participate and a few made an extra effort toward their academics and attendance to make sure they made the roster.
Coaching the students was Theodore “Mookiee” Jones who played for Syracuse University and currently resides in Peekskill.
Each quarter held a different contest, Zaymir Pellington, 7th and Dominic Bowman, 6th were the first students to make a half -court shot from their respective grades.
Ms. Mercedes Quinteros, Assistant Principal for 7th graders at South Middle School coordinated the event, sponsored gift cards for the winners, and sponsored t-shirts for all students.
Students in grades 6-8 took on teachers, administrators, security guards, school counselors, substitute teachers, and custodians! The game was set up with 6 students playing on 5 faculty/staff members. Despite the slight advantage for students, staff was victorious with a final score of: 55-39.
