Elementary Scholars Visit Washington's Headquarters for Special Commemoration of the Semiquincentennial (250th) of the American Revolution
Elementary scholars visited Washington's Headquarters for a special commemoration of the Semiquincentennial (250th) of the American Revolution. Scholars had the opportunity to visit the Museum of the American Revolution’s First Oval Office Project. There, they were able to view replicas of the tents which served as General Washington’s field office, sleeping quarters, and the mobile command center of the Continental Army between 1778 and 1783.
Students explored the tents and learned about different people of the time, and what their lives were like during this struggle for independence.
Students also had the chance to visit with General George Washington & Martha Washington, as portrayed by actors.
Students also watched military drills and learned about camp life with reenactment regiments including the experiences of Revolutionary War soldiers of African descent as portrayed by the Living History Company.
