NFA West Campus Gives Out
Newburgh Free Academy, West Campus is doing it with love for the whole month of February! Each Friday, the building nominates one scholar and one faculty/staff member to receive their Do It With Love award.
“At NFA West, we value rigor, relevance, and most importantly, relationships.” 10th grader, Cormela Berkley spoke as she introduced the awards.
Student Advisory Council sent out a survey to students and faculty/staff to complete. On the Google survey that NFA West students completed, we asked the question: How does this person “Do It With Love” at West?
Ms. Nina D'Alfonso was selected as NFA West’s third Educator of the Week for their Do It With Love Award! Ms. Nina’s parents joined to celebrate in honoring their daughter. Ms. Nina's sister-in-law, Ms. Kylene D'Alfonso is also a teacher at NFA West and joined in the celebration. Ms. Sue Prokosch, vice President of the Board of Education presented the award to Ms. Nina. Students said:
"Ms. Nina is the BEST!!!"
"Ms.Nina does it with love at west because she is always there to help you with anything. She cares if you're okay and makes sure you are doing your best!"
"Ms. Nina Takes time to listen to us and supports us with our work."
"She is always positive and goes above and beyond to stay after school and take her lunch to support us."
Mr. James Brantley, was selected as NFA West’s third Scholar of the Week for their Do It With Love Award! Staff said:
"He works hard daily and puts effort and love into his work and his internship. He's a model student and gives up his lunch daily so that he can focus on his academics because he loves schools, learning, and his success. He also has rave reviews from his mentor at St Luke's because he carries this spirit with him wherever he goes. He deserves this recognition because he has a chance to excel in his life and has the academic potential to go to a top university upon graduation. James can be a real success story and this award would look good on his resume and college applications so that he stands out from his competition."
