NECSD and NFL Host Family Reading Day | A Day of the Child Celebration
The Newburgh Enlarged City School District (NECSD), Newburgh Free Library, Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Team, and NECSD’s My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) will teamed up to host their annual Family Reading Day | A Day of the Child Celebration.
This free and fun family event was sponsored by the Newburgh Enlarged City School District and Friends of the Newburgh Free Library. The event offered Family Literacy Stations, crafts, food, entertainment, face painting (provided by HealthFirst), access to community organizations, and free books. My Brother’s Keeper’s Mens Club grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, El Tecuan Snackbar donated 300 homemade paletas (popsicles) (555 Broadway), A & S Qusine (223 1st St) donated Jamaican meat pies, and more! Mariachi Viva Mexico performed, providing entertainment for the event.
The Day of the Child is an internationally recognized initiative that emphasizes the importance of literacy for all children of all backgrounds - something we hold dear in our community. It is a daily commitment to linking children and their families to diverse books, languages, and cultures. This event will celebrate children and connect them to the world of learning through books, stories, and libraries.
