Temple Hill Academy Celebrates Read Across America; Reads 2598 Books
Throughout the month of March, Temple Hill Academy proudly embraced the spirit of literacy with an exhilarating Read Across America celebration, organized by Ms. Cooke, Mrs. Fox, and Ms. Roe.
Our theme, "Read Across The Academy," encouraged the school community to come together to read. Our Reading Rally, which included passing torches of reading excitement, symbolized the continuous journey of knowledge and storytelling from one reader to another, illuminating paths and inspiring minds along the way.
The highlight of our celebration was the Principal's Challenge, a daring quest to read 2024 books during the month of March. Our students and staff rose to the occasion magnificently, surpassing the goal with a staggering total of 2598 books read! This incredible achievement showcased the dedication and enthusiasm for reading that thrives within the hearts of our Temple Hill Academy family.
Adding to the excitement, our event featured guest readers from various walks of life, including administrators, parents, students, athletes, and district personnel, each bringing their unique voices and stories to the pages. Ms. Heywood took on the personal challenge of reading to as many classrooms as she could throughout the month.
Breakout rooms buzzed with activity, offering engaging STEAM challenges that intertwined the wonders of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math with the magic of reading.
Students and staff dressed as their favorite book characters, people from history who inspire us, or what we aspire to be when we grow up.
Meanwhile, our Middle School Reading Hub became a bustling nexus of ideas and discussions, where students delved into books and shared insights, fostering a vibrant community of young readers.
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make our Read Across America celebration a resounding success. Let's continue to pass the torch of reading, igniting curiosity and knowledge in every heart. Here's to many more pages turned and stories told at Temple Hill Academy!
