New Windsor School Celebrates Dr. Seuss Week
Scholars in New Windsor School celebrated Read Across America Week by reading a Dr. Seuss book every day and doing fun activities during the week of March 4th through the 8th.
-
On Monday we read Fox in Socks; we wore mismatched or silly socks and had red and blue Jello as our snack!
-
On Tuesday, we read GREEN EGGS AND HAM; we all wore green. We had green eggs and ham as our snacks. We played a matching game with rhyming words.
-
On Wednesday, we read Wacky Wednesday and we all wore mismatched, inside-out, or backward clothes. We had a wacky snack!
-
On Thursday, we read Cat in the Hat; we wore red and created headbands to be Thing One and Thing Two!
-
On Friday, we dressed up as our favorite Dr. Seuss character. Read more Dr. Seuss books like “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish", worked on many activities, and watched the movie “Horton Hears a Who!” We also had many special Dr. Seuss-inspired treats!
Beginning on Monday and continuing through March 8th students read a variety of Dr. Seuss books. Students also completed many fun literacy activities including character puppets, story headbands, crafts, story writing, special Dr. Seuss-themed snacks, and themed clothing for each day. Some of the classic Dr. Seuss books our students read included: “The Cat in the Hat,” “Green Eggs and Ham,” “Wacky Wednesday,” “The Lorax,” "Oh the Places You’ll Go” “Are You My Mother?” “Horton Hears a Who,” "Which Pet Should I Get?” and many many more. It was a wonderful week of literacy, learning, and fun!
