Update: Flag pole fixtures | Newburgh Free Academy
During the public comment section of the Board of Education meeting held on Tuesday, February 27th, two members of our community spoke about concerns they had about missing flag poles at one of our schools. Our Department of Facilities and Maintenance purchased new roping and clasps, along with new flags. With the assistance of New York Tree Masters in Cornwall and their donation of time, expertise, and lift equipment, the district was able to make the necessary repairs and the American flags are flying at our main campus once again.
Students from the NFA AF-JROTC program, under the leadership of Master Sergeant Christian Granda, raised a new flag on the south end of the school once new equipment was installed.
The Department of Facilities and Maintenance is making additional adjustments to the flagpole at NFA West Campus and is hopeful for the American flag to return to the sky by early next week. The department plans to paint several of the flagpoles over the summer.
