NFA Students Celebrate Start of Black History Month by Celebrating Their Heritage
Newburgh Free Academy celebrated the start of Black History month by inviting all students and educators to display their heritage! The high school campuses hosted a Rep Your Heritage: Cultural Dress Day, celebrating our diverse community.
Next week, the school is hosting a school-wide trip to SUNY Albany on Thursday. Students will watch a one-man show called, Rhapsody In Black, and then go on a guided tour of the SUNY at Albany campus. Students from all three campuses will attend.
The culminating activity will be an assembly on February 29th at 8:45am on the Main campus. The national theme for this month is: African Americans and the Arts. Our students will bring their “A game” to the stage on that day! In addition to celebrating the Arts, this year we will welcome our guest speaker, the Honorable Corey Ellis - President of the Common Council for the City of Albany, NY.
