Heritage Middle School Hosts 4th Annual Veterans Day Breakfast
On Wednesday, November 8, HMS proudly hosted our 4th annual Veterans Day Breakfast to honor those in our families and community who have served in any branch of our nation’s military. Faculty and staff came together to provide a beautiful bounty of breakfast treats while the HMS band, led by Mr. Hickey played the Star Spangled Banner.
The event was opened by our NFA JROTC Color Guard and our keynote speaker, Master Sergeant Christian Granda, gave all of us a very inspirational message to commemorate the day. Our honor society students read special poems and had guided one-on-one conversations with our honored veteran guests to learn more about what it means to serve. The students and veterans also colored special pages together as part of an art project led by Ms. McCarthey, which were brought together to form a mural-sized mosaic of a saluting soldier.
At the conclusion of the event our honored guests passed through the procession of heroes. The halls were lined with hundreds of students waving flags and holding banners while applauding and cheering for our heroes.
