Vails Gate STEAM Academy Hosts Annual Better Together VIP Breakfast
On Thursday, October 19, Vails Gate STEAM Academy hosted its annual Better Together VIP Breakfast. Students were able to have a special guest join them in the morning to experience a day in the life of a Vails Gate scholar. The VIP's were lined up bright and early for a light breakfast and coffee provided by the school. There was also a presentation on RULER which is an evidence-based approach for integrating social and emotional learning into schools. Developed at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, RULER applies “hard science” to the teaching of what have historically been called “soft skills.” RULER teaches the skills of emotional intelligence.
Immediately following the presentation, the VIP's were then separated by grade and sent to join their scholars in their classrooms. The children were beyond excited to share the ins and outs of their school space. They also enjoyed having their loved ones present to participate in special projects created by their teachers for the event. It was another great day in Vails Gate STEAM Academy.
