Middlehope Fire Department Visit Balmville Elementary for Fire Prevention Week
Balmville Elementary kindergarten and 1st grade classes visited the Middlehope Fire Department. Their firefighters also visited the school and hosted an assembly and apparatus for students in grades 2-5 and Pre-K.
National Fire Prevention Week is observed in the United States and Canada during the week, in which October 9 falls. In the United States, the first Presidential Proclamation of Fire Prevention Week was made in 1925 by President Calvin Coolidge.
The theme for National Fire Prevention Month 2023 is “Cooking Safety Starts with You.” The theme highlights the importance of practicing safe cooking skills at home. Previous themes include “Fire Won't Wait. Plan Your Escape” and “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety.”
