Middle School Recovery Program
The ESY Middle School Recovery Program is for recommended scholars who are considered promotion in doubt due to failing 2 or more core classes. Core classes include English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and/or Social Studies. Specifically, if your child has not earned a passing average of 65 or higher in two or more of his or her core classes in order to be promoted to the next grade, your child is required to attend AND pass scheduled classes in the ESY Middle School Recovery Program. The following outlines information about the program:
- All students will be scheduled for up to 4 core classes, regardless of those failed. Our goal is to provide them with the opportunities to strengthen their understanding of the standards needed for success in each core subject. Additionally, enrichment classes and/or SEL classes may be included in a student’s schedule as needed.
- Students will receive a hardcopy of their schedule as well as a digital copy in their email by July 14th.
Attendance and Participation
- Regular Attendance AND Participation is imperative for course completion. Students are expected to attend all their scheduled classes and actively participate. Note: Family vacations are not considered excused absences.
- ESY staff will make every effort to communicate with parents/guardians when a student is absent.
- Students/Parents understand that students are to adhere to the expectations in the Code of Conduct. A student/parent agreement form outlining behavioral expectations will be provided the first day of ESYP.
