Heritage Middle School Students Collaborate to Promote Mental Health Awareness Month
In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Team and students collaborated to promote awareness around mental health and individual/communal wellness. Students aided in designing and creating a bulletin board near the school cafeteria. All three student grade cohorts signed large, green ribbons as a pledge to take care of themselves and their NECSD community. Students listed their favorite coping skills and ways to manage all of the feelings that they experience on a daily basis.
School Social Workers, Nicole Tarr and Victor Cobo, along with School Psychologist, Jelisa Tonge, and School Counselor, Susan Barringer, organized activities for students during their lunch periods that encouraged dialogue around mental health and self-care and distributed mental-health themed stickers and positive affirmations.
