Fostertown ETC Hosts Reading Rally to Celebrate Literacy
Fostertown held a Reading Rally which was a culminating school wide event to celebrate literacy. The gym was decorated with student created t-shirts that feature positive messages on them as well as banners. The rally kicked off with a positive message from Peter Matthews, a Fostetown Alum, that is now a graduate assistant coach for the University of Miami who was recently in the Men's NCAA Final 4. Then each book read during the Fostertown Annual Tournament of Books was introduces along with the teachers that read them. The teachers then reenacted the tournament and each book was given away to students using a wheel of names. Cooper Merli, wrestling state champ, and Fostertown alum, spoke to the students about the importance of hard work and dedication in school. Library cards were presented to students as well. The rally concluded with the announcing of the winners for the 2023 yearbook cover (front, back, and first page) and performances by the 4th and 5th grade chorus.
