Vails Gate STEAM Academy Hosts "Book Tasting" at Starbucks Themed Café

On the morning of February 7th, students in Mrs. Kelleher and Ms. Zaloga’s 5th grade ICT class were surprised with a Starbucks themed "book tasting" to start off Unit 3 of ARC focusing on Adventure Genre. When students arrived, their classroom was transformed into a Starbucks themed café with their teachers dressed as baristas. The first book on the menu was ‘Storm Runners’, which is the whole classes core text. Students then got to "taste" a variety of books at their independent reading level. The scholars had the option to choose an adventure book they are interested in reading independently. During the tasting, students were able to sip on a complimentary featured drink; the ‘Adventurccino’. The 5th grade scholars became engaged and excited to start their new unit!
