Balmville 5th Grade Class Hosts Two Special Guests

Ms. Lopez and Ms. Corbett's fifth grade class welcomed two very special guests on Friday, December 2nd. Orange County Legislator, Genesis Ramos and Councilmember, Giselle Martinez stopped in to visit and speak with the Balmville scholars. Each woman has made history in their own right. They shared their individual journeys as women of color of Hispanic descent and the challenges faced as a result.  They also shared their love of the Newburgh community and the drive they each have to be the change they wanted to see as young people. Both Giselle and Genesis stressed the importance of being true and authentic. The children were engaged and had tons of questions for their special guests who both made sure to speak in both English and Spanish.
