Therapy Dogs Visited NECSD

Last week, volunteers from Hudson Valley Paws for a Cause visited schools throughout the NECSD community with their Therapy Dogs. Unlike Service Dogs that perform essential actions like guiding people with visual or hearing impairments, therapy dogs are trained to provide affection, comfort and support to people. Service dogs should not be touched while in service to people, while Therapy Dogs almost require affection and human touch. Students and staff were so excited to see and pet the therapy dogs. Their presence provided a positive boost to the teachers and students alike. The scholars were all smiles while they hugged their lovable furry guests. One scholar was even moved to tears while interacting with one of the therapy dogs. Not only did the therapy dogs visit our schools, but they also made a stop to the Board of Education.
