GAMS: The Power of Hello Week Kick-Off
On Monday, September 19th, GAMS kicked off its SEL (Social Emotional Learning): The Power of Hello Week with smiles, Hellos and custom t-shirts designed by Mrs. Nancy Gross. Created by School Counselor, Pattie Lofaro, The Power of Hello Week sets out to create a positive school climate in the hallways, classrooms and beyond. It challenged every adult in the school building to greet and encourage EACH and EVERY student with a “HELLO” and a “SMILE.” Even the GAMS cafeteria staff joined in on the experience wearing "hello" shirts.
Each day during The Power of Hello Week was centered around a different greeting:
DAY ONE
DAY TWO
DAY THREE
DAY FOUR
DAY FIVE
During the kick-off of the week long celebration, GAMS teachers, staff and security all donned custom t-shirts with different variations of the word "Hello". The Power of Hello banners are hanging throughout the school building. GAMS scholars were greeted with "Hello" signs in various languages and music blaring through the PA system. Some students wore their own custom "Hello" t-shirts. The energy in GAMS continues to be filled with LOVE and positivity, proving how powerful exchanging “HELLOs “ with one another throughout the day can truly be.
