Meadow Hill ESY Students Get Hands-On with Archaeology!
Our ESY students had an exciting experience last week when a dinosaur came to visit!
Courtesy of assistant principal Mrs. Urena and Museum Village in Monroe, NY, our students had the opportunity to dig into the past when Mastodons roamed the Hudson Valley thousands of years ago. During project based learning time with Mrs. Grady, our students were able to use archaeological methods to dig up mastodon bones, other fossils and Native American Artifacts. They loved being able to touch and experience the actual fossils and artifacts, and we learned a lot about our local prehistoric creatures and early inhabitants.
We then made our own ceramic “fossils” with our Art teacher Mrs. Williams, using clay, shells, mini dinosaurs and stampers, which each child will take home at the end of the program.
