Balmville Scholars host Literacy Event
The scholars from Ms. Rayford’s 4th grade class were given an opportunity to tap into their creativity to demonstrate their understanding of the English Language Art standards covered this school year. They used a tri-fold poster board to display the information. The students selected their favorite chapter book, and then read with a purpose by searching throughout the book for the main characters, the character’s feelings or traits, the evidence that supports their claim on the character’s feelings or traits, theme, setting, figurative language, point of view, and their IRLA power goals. They also wrote a summary on the events and their opinion on why you should read the book. Scholars also read some of their narrative, informational, and opinion writing pieces. They enjoyed using Book Creator to write their narrative writing piece.
Message from Ms. Rayford, “ I am so proud of my students for all of their hard work and how they helped one another in displaying the information on the poster boards.”
