New Windsor School 3rd Grade Scholars Become Archeologists
The 3rd graders in Ms. Bowe, Ms. Alma, Mr. Formato and Ms. Seymour's classes at New Windsor School became archeologists for a day. The teacher's sent away to The Aurora Fossil Museum in Aurora, NC and received 40 pounds of dirt full of fossils that could date back as far as 25 million years ago. With the help of magnifying glasses and a fossil identification sheet, students sifted through the dirt and found all kinds of interesting fossils such as shells, different shark teeth, crocodile bones and parts of stingrays. They each were able to collect a bag full of finds to share with their families. They were full of excitement and smiles as they made discoveries. Who knows there may be a future archeologist among them!
