Severe Weather Alert!

Central Hudson has issued a warning for Severe Thunderstorms expected this afternoon: Residents should prepare for the potential of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Current forecasts call for thunderstorms, large hail, lightning and wind gusts of up to 65 miles per hour in some areas. These storms could break limbs and topple trees onto power lines, causing service interruptions. Please visit their site to make sure you and your family are prepared.

Due to anticipated inclement weather predicted for this afternoon, all after-school activities are cancelled for today, Monday, May 16th. All students will be dismissed at the end of the regular school day.

According to meteorologist Ben Noll:  The Hudson Valley has an "enhanced risk" for severe thunderstorms today, Monday afternoon! There is a threat for damaging winds, hail & even an isolated tornado. This level of risk is uncommon. Today is a day to be "weather aware" and take all watches & warnings seriously. 

Timing: a severe squall line is predicted to race across the Hudson Valley from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Monday, moving from west-to-east. Avoid travel during this time. Seek shelter inside.
