Security Monitor Receives Life Saving Award from Town of Newburgh
At the May 9th Town of Newburgh Town Board Meeting, Balmville School Security Officer Hector Almodovar received a Life Saving Award for saving a Balmville School 5 th Grader who was choking on an orange during lunch. Officer Almodovar’s quick response, composure, and immediate use of the Heimlich Maneuver saved Ariana Miranda’s life.
The former, New York City Housing Police officer, utilized his first aid training when it was needed the most. Officer Almodovar also receives annual basic life saver first aid and CPR training from the Newburgh Enlarged City School District.
Town Supervisor Gil Piaquadio thanked Officer Almodovar for saving Ariana’s life and and presented him the Life Saving Award on behalf of the Town. The entire Newburgh community thanks Officer Almodovar for his heroic work.
