JOIN US SATURDAY APRIL 30th for FAMILY READING DAY: A Celebration of the Day of the Child!
The Newburgh Free Library and the Newburgh Enlarged City School District will host a Family Reading Day in celebration of The Day of the Child on Saturday, April 30th from 1 pm - 4 pm at the Newburgh Free Library.
The Day of the Child is an internationally recognized initiative that emphasizes the importance of literacy for all children of all backgrounds. It is a daily commitment to linking children and their families to diverse books, languages, and cultures. This event will celebrate children and connect them to the world of learning through books, stories, and libraries.
The event will include: Free food/Food bags (while supplies last), performances and entertainment, a book for the first 100 families in attendance, resources, games, music, activities and fun.
A schedule of performances include:
1:30 pm FIESTA - Bilingual Family Concert with Flor Bromley
2:30 pm Tales from Many Lands with storyteller Eileen Stelljes
3:30pm Mariachi concert by Mariachi Viva Mexico
Also: Horizon on the Hudson Kamishibai Troupes, a story telling group, with 2021 NYLA School Librarian of the Year Ms. Michell Wright Jumpp who was recognized by The Today Show on NBC will be at the event.

La Biblioteca gratuita de Newburgh y el Distrito escolar ampliado de la ciudad de Newburgh organizarán un Día de lectura familiar en celebración del Día del niño el sábado 30 de abril de 1 pm a 4 pm en la Biblioteca gratuita de Newburgh.
El Día del Niño es una iniciativa reconocida internacionalmente que enfatiza la importancia de la alfabetización para todos los niños de todos los orígenes. Es un compromiso diario de vincular a los niños y sus familias con diversos libros, idiomas y culturas. Este evento celebrará a los niños y los conectará con el mundo del aprendizaje a través de libros, cuentos y bibliotecas.
El evento incluirá: comida gratis/bolsas de comida (hasta agotar existencias), actuaciones y entretenimiento, un libro para las primeras 100 familias que asistan, recursos, juegos, música, actividades y diversión.
Un programa de actuaciones incluye:
1:30 pm FIESTA - Concierto familiar bilingüe con Flor Bromley
2:30 pm Cuentos de muchas tierras con la narradora Eileen Stelljes
3:30pm Concierto de Mariachi por Mariachi Viva México
Además: Horizon on the Hudson Kamishibai Troupes, un grupo de narración de historias, con la bibliotecaria escolar del año de NYLA 2021, la Sra. Michell Wright Jumpp, quien fue reconocida por The Today Show en NBC, estará en el evento.
