UPDATE: All schools open - Tuesday, April 26, 2022

Dear NECSD students, faculty, staff, and families,

I am writing to confirm that all NECSD schools will open on a two-hour delay schedule today, Tuesday, April 26, 2022. Through conversations and collaboration with local law enforcement, we are prepared to open all schools. Out of an abundance of caution, please expect law enforcement presence at each school today. This presence may be inside and/or around each school building. You may not see the presence, but please trust that it is there. We are extremely thankful for the support and relationships we have with our multiple law enforcement partners. 

We recognize that some families may wish to see the threats. The district will never dignify nor sensationalize any threat to the safety of our children or educators by sharing any threat directly. Please trust that the district works very closely with multiple tiers of law enforcement agencies and shares all information with those departments, so they can investigate these claims fully. 

New York State Testing for grades 3-8 will now be held on Wednesday and Thursday, April 27th-28th. 

We are thankful for everyone who shared the threats with district officials directly. If you see or hear of any threat, please contact us immediately and directly. Posting on social media is not the best way to investigate and resolve the concern. Sharing information that you or your child(ren) are aware of with the district officials enables our staff to act quickly and promotes a better opportunity for safety. If a student has questions or concerns, they should speak with their teacher, school counselor, social worker, or building principal

Estimados estudiantes, profesores, personal y familias de NECSD,

Le escribo para confirmar que todas las escuelas de NECSD abrirán con un retraso de dos horas hoy, martes 26 de abril de 2022. A través de conversaciones y colaboración con las fuerzas del orden locales, estamos preparados para abrir todas las escuelas. Por precaución, por favor espere la presencia de la policía en cada escuela hoy. Esta presencia puede estar dentro y/o alrededor de cada edificio escolar. Puede que no veas la presencia, pero confía en que está ahí. Estamos extremadamente agradecidos por el apoyo y las relaciones que tenemos con nuestros múltiples socios encargados de hacer cumplir la ley.

Reconocemos que algunas familias pueden desear ver las amenazas. El distrito nunca dignificará ni sensacionalizará ninguna amenaza a la seguridad de nuestros niños o educadores al compartir cualquier amenaza directamente. Confíe en que el distrito trabaja muy de cerca con varios niveles de agencias de aplicación de la ley y comparte toda la información con esos departamentos, para que puedan investigar estos reclamos por completo.

Las pruebas del estado de Nueva York para los grados 3-8 ahora se llevarán a cabo el miércoles 27 y jueves 28 de abril.
Estamos agradecidos por todos los que compartieron las amenazas directamente con los funcionarios del distrito. Si ve o escucha alguna amenaza, contáctenos de inmediato y directamente. Dear all NECSD students, families, faculty, and staff,

The district is aware of alleged threats made against some of the schools in our district and is working with local law enforcement to investigate the situation. Out of an abundance of caution, every school in the district will open on a two-hour delay schedule for Tuesday, April 26, 2022. This time will allow for coordination with multiple agencies of local law enforcement and will provide our team time to coordinate crisis intervention supports that will be available for all students, faculty, and staff. 

The district is deeply saddened with the racially charged nature of the messages viewed on social media. The Newburgh Enlarged City School District is a tight-knit community that encompasses the Town of Newburgh, Town of New Windsor, and City of Newburgh. We are thankful for everyone who shared their concerns about these social media posts with the district. It is through the work of all, we will achieve inclusive excellence.

Estimados estudiantes, familias, profesores y personal de NECSD,

El distrito está al tanto de las supuestas amenazas contra algunas de las escuelas de nuestro distrito y está trabajando con la policía local para investigar la situación. Por precaución todas las escuelas del distrito abrirán con un horario de retraso, de dos horas,
mañana el martes 26 de abril de 2022. Este tiempo permitirá la coordinación con varias  autoridades locales, y le dará tiempo a nosotros para coordinar apoyos de intervención de crisis que estarán disponibles para todos los estudiantes, profesores y personal.

El distrito está profundamente entristecido por los mensajes negativos y raciales vistos en las redes sociales . El Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad Ampliada de Newburgh es una comunidad muy unida que abarca el Pueblo de Newburgh, el Pueblo de New Windsor y la Ciudad de Newburgh. Estamos agradecidos por todos los que compartieron sus preocupaciones sobre estas publicaciones en las redes sociales con el distrito. Es a través del trabajo de todos, lograremos la excelencia inclusiva.
