Opening Day at NFA Main Salon Clinic is a busy one!
Every Friday, from 7:15am – 10:00am, the Cosmetology department offers a Salon Clinic. Friday, November 17th was their grand opening and it was a busy day! With the same offerings as any other salon these students are working hard to earn their 1,000 hours toward their license upon graduation. Ms Leanne Paganelli, Cosmetology year 1 teacher and Ms. Maria Lastowski are on hand to give students guidance and support when needed.
Students can earn a 6th month license when they graduate from NFA Main if they meet all the criteria. The state requires 1,000-hours of approved course of study and that students pass both the New York State written and practical examinations to get a license to operate in New York State. Students enrolled in Cosmetology at NFA Main typically complete the required 1,000 hours in a course of two years.
Students rotate their specialties, including working the front desk and learning the business aspect of working or owning a salon.
Gianella was working on Kristina’s nails, both seniors.
Brianna, Zariah, Samanta are dyeing hair purple (by request), all seniors.
Jianna, a senior was working on her trimming skills.
Leslie, a senior, was working on styling and curls.
Caroline, a senior, was giving science teacher at NFA Main, Mrs. BenVeneto a paraffin treatment and manicure.
Victoria, freshmen, shows off her finished look completed by Arlene, a senior at the step & repeat.
