Professional barber gives advice to Barber students at NFA Main
Guest barber, Jose Venacio spoke with students in Barbering this week. He discussed his experience as a barber who has worked with various celebrities, competed as a barber, traveled the world, and currently owns his own business.
Some advice offered, was for students to always stay humble, "I've been doing this for 17 years and I don't mind sweeping floors or cleaning mirrors. I want my client to notice that when they're in my shop because that reflects me and the work I do. Stay humble and work hard. Even if you've been working in this industry for a long time, make sure you're still working hard and doing this small things."
While speaking with students, he showed off the first barber book, written in 1927. The book is on loan from a fellow barber. Mr. Venacio discussed his fear in asking to borrow the book from someone he had only recently met and reminded students that they will never get what they don't ask for.
