A Look Back at Meadow Hill’s Halloween Extravaganza!
This October Meadow Hill came alive as the spirit of Halloween shook the walls and rattled the classroom doors! A series of ‘spook’tacular events were held for students during the last weeks of the month. To start, a big thank you to the PTO for hosting a blowout Spooky Bingo night with a record number of participants. Additionally, 6th - 8th graders danced the night away during their PTO sponsored haunted Halloween dance.
Next, musicians and their musical directors adorned the stage decked out in spooky Halloween garb for the school’s annual fall concert. Performances were given by the Concert Band, Concert Orchestra, Wind Ensemble and middle level choral groups. Musical selections included: Themes from Harry Potter, The Boogie-Man Blues, Skin and Bones, Bandroom Boogie, and Aztec Dance. Prizes were given to the top four Halloween costumes which were worn by Haddijatou Jammeh (pirate), Gustavo Lopez (knight), Jake Wolff (Jake from state farm), and Anastasiah Durocher (zombie clown). To close the event, families enjoyed a haunted reception with assistance from staff members and former Meadow Hill students as servers. A big thank you goes out to our musical directors, Ms. Shackleton, Mrs. Zeller, Mrs. Murphy, and Mr. McCauley, for another wonderful fall concert.
To conclude the month’s festivities, the school held its 4th annual Halloween parade. Upper elementary and middle level students lined the halls eager to greet and high-five their younger counterparts. K-2 students trekked the halls dressed to spook and scare onlookers in this fun-filled event. Teachers were not to be left out as some of their creative costumes included: The Cat in the Hat accompanied by Things 1- 9, Pirates, Edward Scissor Hands, and the Wizard of Oz entourage. Kindergarten students culminated the event with their visit to Elant nursing home where they shared the Halloween spirit with the senior citizen residents.
