Dr. Padilla inducted into the Greater Newburgh Rotary Club

On Tuesday, November 7th Dr. Roberto Padilla, Superintendent of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District was inducted into the Greater Newburgh Rotary Club. This year, the Greater Newburgh Rotary Club is celebrating over 100 years of serving our community.

The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Founded with the mantra of “service above self,” Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. In more than 160 countries worldwide, approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 30,000 Rotary clubs.

From the earliest days of the organization, Rotarians were concerned with promoting high ethical standards in their professional lives. One of the world’s most widely printed and quoted statements of business ethics is The 4-Way Test:

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Dr. Padilla’s initiation combines the mission of the Rotary club with the mission and vision of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, in addition to our district mantra, Do It With Love and ongoing efforts for equity and inclusion throughout the district and into the community.

NFA Main is home to a chapter of the Rotary Club’s student organization, Interact. When speaking about the Rotary student organization, Key Club, the student organization for Kiwanis was mentioned as well. Key Club is also a club offered at NFA and NFA North. Members of the Rotary Club agree that Interact and Key Club both provide great service to our community and therefore, should not compete in a manner that pulls each other back, but in a way that supports and encourages each organization to be better.

ATTENTION: Are your scholars or colleagues doing something great? Please contact the district Communications Team at communications@necsd.net. We’d love to visit your class or event and/or post your pictures and recap to highlight the amazing accomplishments throughout our district!
