NFA Goldbacks - 2021 Section 9 Champions!
Congratulations to the NFA Varsity Football team for winning the 2021 Section 9 Class AA Championships on Saturday. Despite hail, high winds, and a delay for lightning, the team prevailed to earn the win.
Congratulations to quarterbacks Dylan Iorlano (senior) and Mason Hoover (freshman) for leading the team to victory!
Senior Eric Duncan was presented with the MVP award for the game, as an essential part of the running game for the Goldback offense.
Captains Semaj Branch, Dylan Iorlano, and Sam Okeyo accepted the Section 9 Class AA Championship plaque on behalf of their team.
Head coach Billy Bianco accepted and presented the winning trophy to his team. This is the 7th Section 9 championship won by the Goldbacks under Bianco's leadership. Earlier this year, Bianco became the winningest coach in NFA football history.
Newburgh Free Academy plays in a Class AA regional matchup with Arlington on Nov. 20 at 3 p.m. at Middletown High School.
