Assemblyman Jonathan Jacobson Tours CTE Spaces for Workforce Development Project Research

Assemblyman Jonathan Jacobson toured some of NFA's Career and Technical Education (CTE) facilities as part of his research for a  workforce development project. 

The NECSD currently offers 21 CTE programs with more than half of the high school population enrolled in one or more programs. Previously referred to as vocational programing, CTE pathways allow high school students an opportunity to explore career paths, apply academic foundations to real-world scenarios and projects, and potentially earn a certificate to begin working as soon as they earn their high school diploma. 

The Capital Bond that was passed in May 2018 by a super majority of voters includes a brand new, state of the art, Career and Technical building that will begin the construction process in the fall 2021. The new facility will include world class facilities for current program offerings and space to explore and develop future career paths that will enhance the skillset of our scholars as they graduate from Newburgh Free Academy and enter the world of work. 

Assemblyman Jacobson was joined by Board of Education members: Ms. Carole Mineo (president), Ms. Ramon Burton, Ms. Carol Maida, and Mr. Mark Levinstein, as well as Acting Superintendent, Mr. Ed Forgit, Assistant Superintendent for Finance, Dr. Lisamarie Spindler, and Capital Projects Administrator, Mr. Roger Ramjug. The tour was led by Director of Career and Technical Education, Mr. John Etri.
