Community Trunk or Treat - Doing it with LOVE!
The NECSD FACE Division with the support of parents, local school bus transportation companies, young scholar volunteers and community-based organization professionals supported the 2017 city-wide Trunk or Treat event hosted by the City of Newburgh Recreation Department and Church by the Bridge. Trunk or Treat provides a safe, fun, entertaining environment for our young scholars and their families. With the support of local dentist offices, Dr. Sobel, Marmor and Fisher, Dr. Robert Lustbader and Smile Works Dental, the NECSD gave out over 480 toothbrushes with dental supplies.
Young scholars also received coloring books, crayons, pencils, activity books, and more. FACE did not forget the families and gave out “treat” bags containing, ELA and Math standards booklets, local parent workshop information, College and Career Pathway brochures, Seal of Biliteracy pamphlets, Newburgh Basics flyers, iPledge 5 palm cards and other parent centered items to support their scholars achievement and healthy development.
Over 2,500 participants made their way from trunk to trunk for treats. The event included a live DJ, bouncy house, photo-booth, and cotton candy and popcorn vendors. FACE would like to thank the Fine and Performing Arts Division, Ms. Theresa Brown, for the decorations, and Visconti Bus Service, Gallagher-Mid-State Service, Inc., West Point Tours, Inc., and George M. Carroll Transportation, Inc. for the donation of four mini buses with drivers to provide a backdrop for the NECSD Trunk or Treat display and to help volunteer. The NECSD did it with love at Trunk or Treat!
