NFA Baseball Team Wins Section 9 Class AA Title
NFA Baseball team wins Section 9 Class AA Title! Newburgh would go on to win 16 games, the last coming on Saturday as the Goldbacks blitzed Monroe-Woodbury for six first-inning runs on the way to an 11-3 victory in the Section 9 Class AA title game at Cantine Field. It was Newburgh’s first sectional title since 2005 and seventh since 1968. Seven of the nine starters for Newburgh return for next season. Coach Seabury hopes the team can carry over the momentum.
Of the seniors, Nicholas Paretta committed to play at Mount Saint Mary College (Division III) next year and will be studying Sports Management, Richard Caballero committed to play at Mercy College (Division II) and will be studying accounting, Jack Clifford has signed to play at Russell Sage (Division III) and will be studying physical education, Joseph Russell has committed to play for Stevens Institute of Technology (Division III) and will be studying Quantitative Finance, Matt Jenei will be attending Dutchess County Community College to study business, Scott Scheppy committed to play at Mercy College (Division II) and will be studying business, Elijah Shay committed to play at Mount Saint Mary College (Division III) and will be studying business. Christian Shala and Rafael Garcia are graduating seniors as well.
