NECSD Superintendent Joins Congressman Maloney at Press Conference for Federal Funding
Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY 18th District) held a press conference at Newburgh Free Academy on Tuesday to speak about how funding from the American Rescue Plan will help schools in Orange County and across the country.
Dr. Roberto Padilla, Superintendent for the Newburgh Enlarged City School District spoke about the aid that includes one-time funding that can be used through 2023 and should be dedicated to learning loss, summer programs, mental health/social emotional needs, and health and safety items from the COVID-19 pandemic. NECSD is waiting for official funding details before finalizing plans.
Superintendents Richard Del Moro of Middletown and Mike Rydell from Port Jervis were also on hand to discuss the funding initiative.
