Transportation/Start-time Advisory Committee Clarification
The Transportation/Start-time Advisory Committee began researching the effects of the current Transportation schedule for our scholars in October 2018. The research conducted by this group consisted of general research, case studies of other districts, surveys to our families and scholars, examination of start-times, the length of bus trips, general feedback from the group, and more. The surveys sent to our community received over 3,500 responses.
Over the last several months we have presented different options related to this topic. To be clear, no formal or final recommendation has been made. We have been updating the Board and community in the public forum of the regularly scheduled Board of Education meetings. Given the amount of changes we have all experienced this year, the district will hold off on any plans to rezone schools or change designated tiers until September 2022.
We have learned that there are people who think that there was a proposal to flip tiers at Tuesday's Board of Education meeting. It was not. We shared what the flip tiers would look like and the associated pros/cons with that option. Other options and possibilities have been shared at previous Board of Education meetings in a similar fashion.
