South Middle School School Counselors Create Kits for Confidence
Ms. Karen Perez and Ms. La'Shawn Martinez, school counselors at South Middle School have created baskets with items to help female scholars feel their best before beginning their day. This effort is Inspired by a local Middletown resident and administrator in collaboration with becauseitmatters24/7 LLC.
Our young ladies sometimes come to school and need a minute or two to be their most confident in appearance as they enter school. There are days when, due to time, resources or even a last minute emergency, they rush to school in hoodies or head coverings that are in conflict with school policy. Ms. Perez and Ms. Martinez don't want hair to get in the way of education BUT they want to honor that feeling like your best is an integral part of school readiness and is essential to giving your full attention to learning!
Starting Monday, CROWN kits can be found in my office. These kits are made up of hair care products and/or accessories for our young ladies to use while in school.
ATTENTION: Are your scholars or colleagues doing something great? Please contact the district Communications Team at communications@necsd.net. We’d love to visit your class or event and/or post your pictures and recap to highlight the amazing accomplishments throughout our district!
