Fostertown Artists Create Geometric Designs Based on Historical Art

We are in extraordinary times!  However, Ms. Morales-Ear wished to continue using geometric shapes to create art, even when her students did not have access to the shapes previously used in the classroom. Scholars in her Fostertown art classroom used the program “Brainingcamp” to create their designs.  One of the sections is called “Pattern Blocks” and it allows for the use of geometric shapes to be placed on a grid, rotated and arranged in patterns and beautiful designs.

Ms. Morales-Ear always looks toward Art History for inspiration.  She used the Alhambra in Granada, Spain, to exemplify how our human history has amazing examples of Geometry in Art! Scholars were shown the intricate tile patterns made over 800 years ago, very intricate and all done by tens of thousands of craftsman and tile masters. 

Using this example of geometry in art, they used this program to create their own creations Their final step was to crop and edit their creations to be able to present their artwork.

Ms. Morales-Ear is very proud of her Fostertown artists! She has been hearing comments like, “I really like this, Ms. Morales” or “This was fun”!
