Secondary Grading Scale Conversion Chart

On September 22, 2020, NECSD approved a revised secondary (middle and high school) grading policy.  Under the new policy, in-progress grades for scholars will be based on a 0-4 scale instead of the traditional 100 point scale.  While the 0-4 scale applies to grades within a quarter, the quarterly average under the 0-4 scale will be converted to the 100 point scale for report card and transcript purposes.  A conversion chart was provided to teachers to assist in aligning the 0-4 scale to the 100 point scale.  During the first marking period we solicited input from teachers, parents and administration regarding the chart and made small adjustments to the cart, based on that feedback, to ensure equity in grading for all scholars.  

As a result of this revision, NECSD will delay the publication of report cards for the first quarter to allow time for our data management system to adjust for these small changes.  We are hoping to have report cards distributed prior to the Thanksgiving break.  In the interim, teachers will be able to share in- progress averages for the marking period beginning at 12:00 pm on Monday November 23rd.  While these grades will reflect the new conversion chart, they will not account for any Honors or Advanced Placement weight, which are only reflected on the report cards.  Below is the conversion chart.
