Meadow Hill School's Mr. Imbarrato's Halloween Mystery Investigation
In his continued effort to engage students in fun creative ways, Mr. Bryon Imbarrato, 6th grade ELA at Meadow Hill School, combined a key sixth grade standard with a Halloween mystery investigation. The students in Mr. Imbarrato's class have been working on analyzing evidence to make a valid inference. To engage the students Mr. Imbarrato made a fun mystery activity to have students solve a crime.
The sixth grade team, along with administration, were given case files for each person to read through screencastify for the students. The case files contained pieces of evidence that the students could use to begin piecing together who committed the crime.
The students were able to use the strategies learned in class along with peer discussion and the use of Thinking Maps. The students had a fun time analyzing evidence and being able to collaborate with one another virtually. Our Meadow Hill Detectives were able to validate their claims and solve the crime!
