Two Collaborative Programs with Newburgh Free Library, MSMC, and Newburgh Armory
The Youth Services Department has partnered with Mount Saint Mary College, with support from the NAUC, to offer two programs this fall for children and teens. Knight Lights Reading Buddies is a reading enrichment program for students in grades 1-3 where they meet online weekly for 30 minutes to practice reading skills with a teacher candidate mentor from MSMC. Program is offered Monday through Thursday between 4-6 p.m., and runs Oct. 5 through Nov. 23. Registration is open! <Linked here>
Time Detectives Online is an inquiry program for grades 7 and up, designed to seek out the less often told stories of people and times in our past. Participants will work with MSMC students to learn to collect and analyze data, examine the perspectives of people in the past, consider multiple viewpoints, and create original evidence-based historical accounts. This online program is offered on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m., beginning Sept. 30 through Dec. 2 (no program on Nov. 25). Registration is open! <Linked here> Both programs offered via Google Meets / Classroom.
