NFA North students in Ms. Bender's Chemistry Classes Work with IBM Volunteers
On Tuesday March 10th, NFA North students in Ms. Bender's Chemistry classes worked with volunteers from IBM and Global Foundries to create a wind powered car. The student teams designed a wind powered car to travel a distance. Their designs were tested at the test track and they were able to use their engineering skills to make changes to race their wind cars against their peers.
The volunteers talked with the students about their jobs at IBM and Global Foundries and the process they took to reach their current jobs and the impact their careers have on daily life.
The volunteers were coordinated by Tina Wagner from Global Foundries. The group even had a recent P-Tech Alumus Danis Jhammat come back to North to work with the students. Danis works on the main frame at IBM after graduation from Newburgh Free Academy P-TECH and SUNY Orange.
