NFA Alumni is Now a Harlem Globetrotter!

Ja’Kwan "Slinkky" Jones is a Newburgh Free Academy Alumni​ (class of 2014) and is now a Harlem Globetrotter! Congratulations on your success!

"Ja’Kwan Jones always dreamt of playing basketball at Madison Square Garden as a kid growing up in Newburgh. He couldn’t have imagined this scenario unfolding.

The Knicks weren’t the opposition, nor a major college team. Jones traded in childhood nickname “Slinky” for “Sky” and a Harlem Globetrotters jersey."

“The plan never changes,” Jones said. “It’s to establish a living for myself and inspire as many people as I can to get out of Newburgh.

“I just want to make sure everybody’s having a good time,” said the 24-year-old Jones, a 2014 Newburgh Free Academy graduate, prior to his December game against the famous Washington Generals. “Nothing is better than seeing people that say you inspire them, kids, adults, older people. People want you to hold their babies. It’s been crazy.”
