NFA North Scholars Write Book Reviews and Create Video Commercials
NFA North Scholars created web site designs and video commercials to explore and express their thoughts on their Independent reading assignment.
Ninth grade scholars in Mrs. Ragusa and Mrs. McQueen’s English Language Arts class at Newburgh Free Academy North Campus completed a literacy project this week. Each scholar selected a book of choice to reflect and review. After independently reading their book, each scholar created a website to review their selection.
With the help of Instruction Technology Facilitator (ITF), Mrs. Holmes, scholars created their own website for the purpose of reviewing the book. The website had several tabs and required the scholars to create their own content. They had to include links , illustrations , pages, videos and more . Scholars were asked to write a jacket cover summary, select photos that could be used for the book cover, write their review, and create a video commercial using FlipGrid to persuade future readers to select their book.
Finally, scholars presented their review and website to their peers. Scholars were graded on content, presentation skills, writing for proper mechanics, among other areas.
