NFA Advanced Culinary Scholars Prepare Sheet Pan Caprese Chicken
What's on the menu? Scholars from Advanced Culinary prepared a delicious meal as part of their regular class lesson this week. On the menu this week - Sheet Pan Caprese Chicken!
Culinary Arts is one of 21 Career and Technical Education (CTE) Pathways that scholars at Newburgh Free Academy Main Campus can choose to explore. This pathway begins with students learning the hospitality and restaurant management end of the industry. Students will receive safety and sanitation instruction and learn to the proper use and maintenance of equipment found in most industrial kitchen facility. Students will learn recipe development and analysis, nutrition, cooking of soups, sauces, meats, starches, vegetables and salads. Baking from yeast dough to quick bread, all types of cakes including decorating, pastries and the art of presentation. The classes will all be taught under actual restaurant conditions. The curriculum and courses geared for college preparation, career opportunities, internships, mentoring and program certification.
Culinary Arts courses at NFA Main are taught by Chef Jim Morrison and Chef Jennifer Caron.
